There are seasons in life when everything feels like it’s moving forward—doors open, schedules fill, and opportunities seem to come one after another.
And then there are seasons when everything slows down.
For our family and ministry, this past year brought one of those unexpected slow seasons. Due to Richard’s illness, we had to step back from many events and opportunities we would normally say yes to. It wasn’t easy. In fact, it was one of the hardest adjustments we’ve had to make.
Ministry is not just what we do—it’s who we are.
So when you’re called to pause, it can feel confusing… even discouraging.
💭 When the Ministry Looks Different Than You Planned
We’ve always loved sharing the Gospel through chalk art—watching a blank canvas turn into a powerful visual message of hope, redemption, and truth.
But during this season, the “canvas” God gave us looked very different.
Instead of traveling, we found ourselves:
-
Praying more deeply
-
Trusting God more fully
-
Learning to rest in His timing
-
Serving in quieter, unseen ways
And while it didn’t look like ministry as usual, it was still ministry.
🎨 God Still Paints Beautiful Stories
One thing we’ve been reminded of again and again is this:
God doesn’t stop working just because our plans change.
In fact, some of the most meaningful ministry happens in the hidden places—where faith is stretched, dependence grows, and God gently reshapes our hearts.
Just like in chalk art, where the image isn’t always clear at the beginning… God is still creating something beautiful.
Even when we can’t fully see it yet.
🙏 A Season of Gratitude
We are so thankful for the churches, camps, and families who have prayed for us, supported us, and welcomed us when we were able to return.
Your kindness has meant more than words can say.
And as we begin stepping back into more opportunities, we do so with renewed gratitude and a deeper understanding of what it truly means to serve.
🌟 Looking Ahead
We are excited about what God has ahead for Sparrow Ministries.
While we may be booking fewer events than in past years, each one is more meaningful than ever. We are trusting God to open the right doors at the right time—and we are ready to say “yes” as He leads.
If you’re planning:
-
A church service
-
A family event
-
A women’s gathering
-
A children’s ministry outreach
